The division has a fleet of 40 trucks, with 34 of these being Scania’s capable of carrying up to 38 tonnes of bulk material, with the newer twin steer trucks with 5 axle trailers able to carry up to 43 tonnes per load.
The fleet has a wide range of multi size combinations from tandem to B-Double. The modern Scania trucks, are the safest trucks for the driver, along with the other road users.
The transport division dovetails neatly with the other divisions of G.E. Hughes to provide all clients with a seamless and complete solution. Our certified Integrated Management System and extensive operational experience gives our clients the confidence to know that their requirements will be met on a consistent basis regardless of the project size or location.
The vast majority of the servicing of G.E. Hughes large fleet of Trucks and Trailers is conducted in-house. The company has a fully equipped and Scania accredited workshop with a highly trained team of Diesel and Auto-Electrical mechanics. Programmed preventative and breakdown maintenance is carried out by the team, who possess a high level of fault finding and diagnostic capability. Breakdown recovery plans are maintained to ensure quick and effective response to service interruptions, in order to minimise the effects on our customers.
